Meet the host

G’day! Name’s Paris.

your mate who’s been there, done that

Host of Sh*ts F*cked and an Addiction Recovery Mentor. I spent a long time in the thick of it, and this is how I got here.

How I got here

sh*ts been pretty f*cked
  1. 17 years + 10 years

    The bottle, then meth

I spent 17 years battling the bottle and 10 years hooked on meth, and for a while there I was wrapped up in the world of escorting too. It’s a life that can chew you up and spit you out. It gave me a front-row seat to the absolute hell that is addiction: the chaos, the isolation, and the exhausting fight to claw your way out.

  2. Lost

    Where do you even start?

For years I was completely lost, overwhelmed by where to even bloody start. Recovery felt like an impossible maze.

  3. The turning point

    Reaching out

It wasn’t until I finally reached out to a drug counsellor that things began to shift. I met people who’d been through their own battles, found support groups I’d never heard of, and discovered recovery programmes that didn’t fit the traditional mould.

NA, AA and rehab can work for some people, but they’re not for everyone.

  1. Clean

A whole new take on life

Now I’m over three years clean from meth, with a whole new take on my relationship with alcohol. I know recovery’s possible.

  2. 2023

    The poddy is born

I started Sh*ts F*cked to create a space where you could tap into a variety of resources, hear different perspectives, and realise that recovery is as personal and unique as you are. There’s no ‘right way’ to heal. It’s about finding the path that makes sense for you.

  3. Learning the work

    Lived experience, plus the paperwork

    • Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD)
    • Mental Health Peer Work
    • Suicide intervention training
    • Certified lived experience AOD representative

So when I’m sitting at the table, I’m not just throwing around theories.

  4. Your Recovery

    Helping people one-on-one

I founded Your Recovery to offer addiction recovery mentoring: practical, judgement-free support from someone who’s been there.

  5. Now

    Speaking up

I contribute to committees and policy work, and speak up on behalf of people who’ve been through addiction. Our health systems too often leave people behind at the most critical moments. And when it comes to supporting our First Nations people, we need to do better: culturally safe practice should be the standard, not the exception.

    Book Paris to speak
“If you’re feeling lost, know this: there’s always another way forward. You are the creator of your own life, and you can always start again.”
